Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 10-15 fresh blackberries
  • 10 fresh mint leaves
  • Juice of one lime
  • 1 and 1/2 ounces agave syrup (or more to taste)
  • Sparkling water
  • Ice

Instructions

  • Macerate the blackberries.
Add the blackberries to a sturdy glass and muddle thoroughly until fully crushed and juicy. You want the berries completely broken down and releasing their natural juices.

  • Add the mint.
Add the mint leaves and gently press just a few times to release the aromatic oils. Avoid over-muddling to prevent bitterness.

  • Add lime juice.
Pour in the fresh lime juice and stir to combine with the berry mixture.

  • Stir in agave.
Add the agave syrup and stir until evenly incorporated.

  • Strain over ice.
Strain the mixture into a glass filled with fresh ice, leaving the berry pulp behind for a smoother finish.

  • Top with sparkling water.
Pour sparkling water over the ice and give a light stir to blend.

  • Garnish and serve.
Garnish with a mint sprig, lime wheel, and a few whole blackberries. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Sweetener Swap: You can substitute simple syrup for agave if preferred. Use the same amount and adjust to taste.

  • Mint Level: Add extra mint for a stronger herbal flavor, but press gently to avoid bitterness.

  • Adjust the Lime: For a tarter drink, add a little more fresh lime juice. Prefer it softer? Use slightly less.

  • Strain or Not: For a smoother, more refined mocktail, strain the mixture before adding sparkling water. If you prefer a rustic, mojito-style presentation, leave the muddled berries and mint in the glass for extra texture and color.

  • Make It Ahead: You can macerate the blackberry mixture in advance and refrigerate. Add ice and sparkling water just before serving to keep it fresh and bubbly.
