Frequently Asked Questions – Mojito Mocktail

What is the difference between a mojito and a virgin mojito?

A classic mojito contains rum, while a virgin mojito mocktail skips the alcohol. You still get the same refreshing mix of mint, lime, and sparkle—perfect for anyone avoiding alcohol.

Can I use different sweeteners?

Absolutely. Swap simple syrup with agave nectar, honey simple syrup, or a sugar-free option like stevia drops for a lower-carb mint mojito mocktail.

Can I make a large batch for a party?

Yes! Multiply the ingredients by the number of servings and mix in a pitcher. Add sparkling water and ice right before guests arrive so every glass stays bubbly.

How do I keep the mint vibrant and green?

When muddling, gently bruise the leaves—avoid shredding them. This releases the mint oils without creating bitterness or discoloration.

What is ‘muddling’?

Muddling is a bartending technique used to gently press fresh herbs or fruits—like mint leaves or lime wedges—against the bottom of a glass with a muddler or the back of a spoon. The goal is to release essential oils and juices without shredding the ingredients. For a mojito mocktail, light pressure is key: press just enough to bruise the mint so it releases its aroma and flavor while staying vibrant and green.
