ingredients for Tequila Sunrise Mocktail

Ingredients for Virgin Sunrise

  • freshly squeezed orange juice (about 2-3 large oranges) -or store-bought
  • grenadine syrup – Pomegranite syrup
  • freshly squeezed lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • freshly squeezed pineapple juice (about 1 medium-sized pineapple) – or store-bought
  • Ice cubes

Ingredient Notes

  • You can also add 1-2 ounces of non-alcoholic tequila
  • If short on time, use good-quality store-bought orange and pineapple juice

How To Make a Non-Alcoholic Tequila Sunrise

  1. Fill a glass to the top with ice cubes.
  2. Pour the freshly squeezed pineapple juice into your favorite highball glasses.
  3. Combine the freshly squeezed lime and orange juice and pour them into the glass.
  4. Slowly pour grenadine down the inside of the glass so it sinks to the bottom.
  5. Serve and enjoy your festive Virgin Tequila Sunrise mocktail! Garnish with lime, orange slices, or pineapple slices

Serving & Garnish Tips for a Glow-Worthy Sunrise

  • Show Off the Layers -Use a tall, clear highball or hurricane glass so the grenadine can settle and create that signature “sunrise” gradient. Slowly pour the grenadine down the side of the glass to keep the colors distinct.
  • Chill Everything First– Refrigerate the juices and chill the glasses for 15–20 minutes before serving. A frosty glass keeps the mocktail vibrant and refreshing longer.
  • Garnish with Tropical Flair -Add a slice of orange, a lime wheel, or a fresh pineapple wedge on the rim. A maraschino cherry or a sprig of mint gives an extra pop of color and aroma.
  • Batch for Brunch -Hosting a crowd? Mix the orange, pineapple, and lime juices in a pitcher and let guests pour their own drinks. Offer grenadine in a small carafe so everyone can create their layered sunrise.
  • Pair with a Light Bite -Serve alongside mini quiches, fresh fruit skewers, or avocado toast for an elegant brunch spread that balances the sweet citrus flavors.

Notes

We love fresh-squeezed juice for maximum flavor, but store-bought juice is perfect in a pinch! This mocktail recipe can be made in batches for a large gathering.

  • Use a Clear Glass: A tall highball or hurricane glass shows off the beautiful sunrise layers.

  • Pour Slowly: Drizzle grenadine down the inside of the glass so it sinks and creates the red-to-orange gradient.

  • Chill Ingredients: Keep juices and glasses cold for the most refreshing sip and sharper color contrast.

  • Fun Garnishes: Add an orange or lime slice, pineapple wedge, or a maraschino cherry for a festive look.

  • Batch-Friendly: Pre-mix the citrus and pineapple juices in a pitcher; let guests add grenadine individually to create their own layered effect.

  • Kid Friendly – Make this Sunrise Drink kid-friendly with colorful straws and fun umbrellas. Kids LOVE to garnish their own drinks!
