Ingredient Notes and Substitutions

  • Elderflower Syrup – Elderflower syrup gives this Hugo Spritz Mocktail its signature floral flavor and elegant European-inspired taste. It adds a light sweetness that pairs beautifully with mint, lime, and sparkling bubbles.
  • Non-Alcoholic Prosecco or Sparkling na White Wine – A crisp alcohol-free prosecco or non-alcoholic sparkling white wine creates the classic spritz feel and gives this drink its sophisticated bubbly finish. Choose a dry sparkling option for the best balance.
  • No N/A Prosecco? – This mocktail is still absolutely delicious, made with sparkling water only. The flavor becomes lighter, extra refreshing, and a little more citrus-forward while still keeping that beautiful elderflower and mint combination.
  • Soda Water – Soda water keeps the drink bright, bubbly, and refreshing. Add it just before serving for the freshest sparkle.
  • Fresh Mint – Fresh mint is essential for the classic Hugo Spritz flavor. Gently clap the mint before adding it to the glass to release its natural oils and aroma.
  • Lime Slices – Fresh lime adds brightness and beautifully balances the floral elderflower. Thin lime wheels also make this mocktail especially pretty for entertaining.
  • Ice – Lots of ice is key for a true spritz-style drink. A fully iced glass keeps the mocktail extra crisp, cold, and refreshing ✨

How To Make A Hugo Spritz Mocktail Recipe

  1. Chill the Glass – Fill a large wine glass with ice and let it chill while you prepare the ingredients.
  2. Add the Mint & Lime – Add fresh mint leaves and lime slices directly to the glass.
  3. Pour the Elderflower Syrup – Add the elderflower syrup over the mint and lime.
  4. Add the Sparkling Wine – Slowly pour in the alcohol-free prosecco or non-alcoholic sparkling white wine.
  5. Finish with Soda Water – Top with soda water for extra sparkle and refreshment. Give the drink a light stir.
  6. Garnish & Serve – Add more mint, lime slices, and plenty of ice. Serve immediately while icy cold and bubbly.

GLOW NOTES

I was inspired to create this Hugo Spritz Mocktail after seeing the most beautiful Hugo Spritz cocktails during a dinner in Miami last week.

With our first trip to Italy coming up this fall, I came home inspired to recreate that same refreshing, sophisticated feeling in a non-alcoholic version that still feels celebratory and special. After a few rounds of testing, this became the one I couldn’t stop making — light, floral, crisp, and incredibly glow-worthy ✨

Here’s to beautiful travels, warm evenings, and drinks that make everyday moments feel a little more magical.

XOXO, Sher
